SIMUNJAN: Idris Ibrahim Group (IIG), a chartered accounting firm here, held a tree-planting activity recently at the Sabal Forest Reserve in Simunjan as part of the Greening Sarawak Campaign.
It’s the firm’s corporate social responsibility activity under its Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
The Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), which is the collaborator for the tree-planting activity, said IIG’s participation reflects its commitment towards a greener Sarawak, an effort which is in line with the national ‘Greening Malaysia Agenda Through 100 million Tree Planting Campaign (2021-2025)’ in which a total of 29,295,486 trees have been planted in Sarawak and is way ahead of its goal of planting 35 million trees by 2025.
“IIG’s outing came with support from the Faculty of Accountancy from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM), Kota Samarahan.
“Through this joint initiative, 1,200 saplings of high-value indigenous species such as meranti, luis and lun have been planted with the participation of 150 representatives from IIG, Uitm, FDS and local communities,” FDS said in a press release.
IIG contributed RM8,000 in sponsorship to FDS for the silviculture and maintenance activities of the planted trees.
