SIBU: An errant trader who refused to pay a daily rent of RM1 at the Sibu Central Market had her products confiscated by the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC).

SMC chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said the trader was operating without a license and was previously offered opportunities to pay rent as a daily trader.

“The individual, despite lacking a license to trade seasonal fruits, was given the option to pay as a daily trader but refused.

“This morning at 10.30 am, the enforcement (team) confiscated all the items,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Ting was responding to a viral video taken by a seasonal food trader who shouting behind the camera while filming SMC enforcement confiscating her products.

Following the incident, Ting urged all traders to cooperate with SMC by either obtaining a license or paying the daily rate of RM1 to trade at the market.
