KOTA SAMARAHAN: Kelab Belia Sejati Sadong (KBSS) was crowned champion in the youth organisation category of the Perdana Award in conjunction with the State Level National Youth Day 2023 here today.

The club won a cash prize of RM10,000 thanks to their involvement in over 16 community and social activities.

As for the individual male category, the champion was Ricky Enteri, 32, from Sibu who participated in 16 community and social activities. He took home a cash prize of RM3,000 along with a trophy.

The women’s individual category was won by Debbie Gibson Medan, 27, from Bintulu who also brought a cash prize of RM3,000 along with a trophy.

The winners were presented their prizes and certificates by the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, in the presence of the Director of the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department (JBS), Lamat Nyalau.

Karim said, the state level National Youth Day celebration was held for the second time in Samarahan.

“This celebration is in appreciation and a recognition from the government of the youth who contribute to the development of the country,” he said.

In a related development, he revealed that the Youth Day organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development will be held in Kapit on Dec 2.
