KUCHING: The way new business opportunities are being explored must be changed in view of the far more sophisticated and ever challenging digital world.
Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain said it was crucial to be creative, innovative and be brave to take calculated risks in venturing into new unknown frontiers.
“Last year, the SEDC board approved the implementation of our transformation plan to enable SEDC to meet the new challenges in our quest to help the government in its plans to achieve developed state status by 2030.
“With the ambitious SEDC transformation plan in place, God willing, we should be able to achieve our desired future state to be high performing, delivering pace-setting performances, and becoming the pride and crown jewel of Sarawak.”
Abdul Aziz was speaking during SEDC’s 50th anniversary dinner, which was also attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Riverside Majestic Hotel here, Monday (July 4) evening.
He explained that the transformation initiative would inevitably require expenditure to improving facilities such as information technology infrastructure.
“But, the most important ingredient is in the changing of mindset and work culture of our workforce.
“They need to be aligned and in sync with the corporation’s vision, objectives and strategic plans.”
Abdul Aziz added that the road ahead would be challenging. “However, I am confident, with the continuous support from our Premier, the Sarawak government, SEDC board members and our committed SEDC team, we can inspire ourselves to rise to the next level, thus inching one step closer in realising Sarawak’s vision to become a developed state by 2030.”
