SIBU: Lions Clubs members have been urged to adapt to the needs of new realities and challenges.
In making the call, Lions District 308-A2 Governor, Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua said Lions Clubs International is adapting to a rapidly changing environment.
“If we are really serious about growing Lions Clubs, we must innovate and think outside the box,” she asserted when officiating at the Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan’s (LCSP) 24th installation ceremony cum fund raising banquet held at a hotel here Saturday night (July 30).
Dr David Ling Sien Ngan was officially installed as the LCSP’s incoming president for year 2022-2023, replacing Malcom Hii Hiong Ying.
Loh said the Lions movement could not avoid change and that the more they resist change the tougher it will get to meet the changing environment.
She pointed out flexibility and adaptability are critical skills that drive change successfully.
“Look at the positives, change our mindset with a new perspective and set new goals.
“Let us introduce new projects to local communities that serve their needs. Lions can lead by example to help the world become a better place that values generosity and sharing,” she said.
She said volunteering in Lionism is about giving, contributing and helping other individuals and the community at large.
It is working with others to make a meaningful contribution to make a better community, she stated.
She also pointed out organisations like Lions Clubs can only function with the cooperation, active participation and involvement of all members.
Among those present were Lions District Governor of Manila District 301-A4, Marc Alain Ong, president of Manila Allied Lions Club Marc Jansen Ong and president of Lions Club of Kota Budaya, Kelantan, Jack Ho Wei Jiat.
