KUCHING: Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Minister Datuk Roland Sagah is looking ahead to the terms that will be worked out for the return of education autonomy to Sarawak, chief among them, the financial implications.
He emphasised the need for Sarawak to receive adequate funding to raise the bar for education.
“I am glad to read the good news about giving autonomy in education back to Sarawak. I thank Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof for taking steps towards such an end.
“The most important is that sufficient allocations be given for operating expenses, school infrastructure developments and expenditures for programmes to upgrade the standard of education,” he said to New Sarawak Tribune.
Sagah, who is Tarat assemblyman, pointed out that the matter should be given due consideration as it was the aspiration of all Sarawakians.
