KUCHING: Local therapists are urged to adhere to their code of ethics in the treatment of patients.

Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said, the code should act as practical guidelines so that they would not fall into controversy in their practice.

He was officiating at the Uniq Qun therapy massage course at a hotel here Saturday.

“It is important to understand the principles of therapy, therapeutic movement and even the human biology,” said Dr Jerip who is a medical practitioner by profession.

He noted that the Qun therapy massage had long been trusted by the people because of its positive testimony from the patients.

“This is due to the professional training that the masseurs received through the Qun therapists. We hope that the community’s confidence is a testament to the benefits of therapy,” he said.

Dr Jerip however said he preferred scientific evidence-based treatment, because it comprised a variety of things, including testimonials and how illness could be cured.
