THOSE interested in pursuing studies in the green energy industry can enrol in green technology courses focused on solar energy at the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Bintulu.
Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis announced that in addition to green technology courses, ADTEC Bintulu also offers electrical courses such as Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and Electrical (Power).
Mechanical courses are also available, including Automotive, Oil and Gas Piping Installation, and Welding.
Harden was responding to a question from Kennedy Chukpai Ugon (GPS-Murum) during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today, who asked about nearby TVET institutions in the Bakun and Murum areas that offer programmes related to the green energy industry.
Meanwhile, Harden noted that there are currently no proposals to establish higher education or TVET institutions specifically focused on green energy, particularly hydropower, in the Bakun and Murum regions.
“However, several higher education institutions in Sarawak do offer related programs, including Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Curtin University Malaysia, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, ADTEC, and the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS),” he assured.
