KUCHING: A Stage 4 cancer patient received a visit from members of the Padawan 4×4 Adventure Club, who brought with them cash and food donations.

Elleses Awan, his wife and two grandchildren are staying together with his cousin’s family at his cousin’s house in Kampung Kuap as their own house has collapsed due to its dilapidated condition.

The 61-year-old was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and is wheelchair-bound and jobless.

His wife, who used to work at a coffeeshop, left her job to take care of Elleses and their two grandchildren, who are both in primary school.

“I have no income now and neither does my wife. We depend on our four children for our living and I am so thankful to my cousin for allowing us to stay with them,” said Elleses.

When asked if he ever applied for assistance from the Welfare Department and other organisations, Elleses said he did not know how to go about it.

Hence, he hoped that someone could help to apply for assistance for him.

He also hoped government bodies and charity organisations would help him build a new house for his family.
