BINTULU: Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom has emphasised the importance of caring for one’s health from a young age as a preventive measure against chronic diseases.

In an effort to encourage the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle, he stated that practicing a healthy lifestyle is key to maintaining a high quality of life in old age.

Hence, he fully supports the Healthy Malaysia National Agenda (ANMS) introduced by the federal Ministry of Health (KKM), which plays a vital role in promoting physical activity, stress management, healthy eating, and anti-smoking habits.

“ANMS encourages people to be physically active, manage stress wisely, and maintain a balanced diet.

Dr. Rundi, represented by political secretary to the Premier, Collin Patan, also urged the public to undergo regular health check-ups, including diabetes screening, cholesterol tests, and blood pressure checks, to prevent diseases early.

He stressed that healthy activities, such as avoiding smoking and alcohol abuse, are crucial for preventing health complications and increasing the life expectancy of Malaysians.

“By adopting a healthy lifestyle, state leaders hope that the community can enjoy a better quality of life and reduce the risk of health problems in the future,” added Dr. Rundi, who is also the Kemena assemblyman.
