KUCHING: Malaysia Airlines and Firefly have announced fixed fares capped at RM300 one-way for flights to Sabah and Sarawak in conjunction with the upcoming Kaamatan and Gawai festivals.
The tickets will be available for purchase starts tomorrow. Malaysia Airlines will operate flights departing from Kuala Lumpur, while Firefly will operate flights departing from Penang.
Chief Executive Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi appreciated the government’s support in subsidising airfares during these festive periods.
“As the national flag bearer, we are committed to prioritising the needs of our customers and ensuring their safe and seamless travel experience onboard Malaysian hospitality,” he said in a statement today.
The capped fares are applicable for travel on May 27, 28, and 29 to Kota Kinabalu (BKI), Labuan (LBU), Sandakan (SDK), and Tawau (TWU) via Malaysia Airlines, and between Penang (PEN) and BKI via Firefly.

Malaysia Airlines will mount 14 additional flights and upgrade one of its services to the wide-body A330 aircraft for Sarawak, while also adding seven extra flights and upgrading two services for Sabah.
Firefly, on the other hand, will operate three additional flights between PEN and BKI, as well as two additional flights between PEN and KCH during this travel period.
