People often book their flights months in advance of when they actually plan to get on the plane and fly to their destination.
With that in mind, it’s a good idea to check your travel documents at least once far ahead of time, recommends Sabine Fischer-Volk, from a German consumer advice centre. For one, it’s important to check that your passport or other travel documents haven’t expired meanwhile.
Many countries also require that the passport be valid for at least six months past your arrival date. Check with your local embassy or travel agency to see the entry requirements for your destination.
Fischer-Volk also warns that passengers whose names have changed since the booking, through a divorce or a marriage, for example, often run into trouble during boarding or going through customs. – dpa
