MIRI: An afternoon blaze, which razed a double-storey house along Jalan Miri-Bintulu, Suai today (Nov 16), left ten residents homeless.
The fire, which occurred around 3.25 pm, spared the lives of the two families residing in the rented house, with no reported injuries or casualties.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Batu Niah station were deployed to the scene, about 10km away, after receiving a distress call.
By the time the firemen arrived, the house was beyond saving.
The fire was put out with water sourced from a nearby river, and the firefighting operation lasted nearly two hours. The firemen wrapped up their operation at 5.20 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
