KUCHING: The Sarawak Gerontology and Geriatrics Society (SGGS) will host the Active Ageing Sarawak Seniors Conference on March 16 and 17 at Bangunan Baitul Makmur II, here.
The conference aims to empower individuals in their golden years and foster awareness about ageing-related issues.
The announcement follows a courtesy call from SGGS on Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah at her office today.
During the visit, SGGS representatives discussed plans for the conference, emphasising its role in promoting healthy lifestyles and facilitating interactions in the gerontology sector.
SGGS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the well-being of seniors, enabling them to thrive during their golden years.
Founded with the vision of implementing a comprehensive health reform plan for Sarawak, SGGS said it is committed to raising awareness about ageing-related issues and providing a platform for continuous learning and professional discourse.
Key objectives of SGGS include organising educational events, disseminating knowledge through newsletters and research papers on gerontology, and fostering collaboration with other organisations in the field.
By facilitating access to information and resources, SGGS said it aims to empower older individuals and enrich their lives, thereby promoting a vibrant and inclusive ageing community in Sarawak.
