JAKARTA: The Indonesian government is planning to redesign bureaucracy next year by removing two ranks of public servants and replacing them with artificial intelligence (AI), Xinhua news agency reported, quoting President Joko Widodo as saying on Thursday.
The current four echelon tiers in the government institutions, he said, would be reduced to two by next year as AI was set to replace top civil service posts.
“I have ordered ministers to replace echelon III and IV officials with AI (because) our bureaucracy will be faster with AI,” Widodo said without providing further details on the plan.
The plan is expected to cut the red tape that has been hampering investment and to fix dozens of overlapping rules, the president said. – Bernama
