All victims were rescued after a team of Special Action Unit (UTK) and its elite unit, Tiger Platoon Central Brigade General Operations Force Unit, Royal Malaysian Police stormed into the office building.

The elite police unit’s efficient action allowed all victims to be rescued in less than 30 minutes and all five militants were detained without any injuries.

That is the scenario that is being conjured in the Violence Threat Training (AEX SZB 1/2018) held at the site that attracted the public.

Also held was a demonstration of the Sky Golden Air fire drill and bomb threat in the baggage.

The training also involved the cooperation of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, the National Security Council, the National Disaster Management Agency, the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, the Ministry of Health, the Social Welfare Department, the Information Department as well as the airlines.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya District police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the training was conducted to identify the shortcomings and to improve the level of preparedness of all agencies when dealing with an emergency situation.

According to him, the airport is one of the main targets of terrorist threats and it is important for each agency to know the initial steps to take.

“Such training will be held regularly so that all agencies can identify and improve their respective roles when faced with emergency situations,” he told a news conference after the Violence Threat Training at LTAAS here yesterday. – Bernama

Mohd Zani said before this his department had received a false bomb threat in 2017 from a female passenger and the matter had been handled well. – Bernama
