Fashion designer Alber Elbaz is back at it, having landed a new collaboration with Tod’s.The Moroccan-Israeli creative has joined forces with the luxury Italian label as part of its ‘Factory’ series of capsule collections, described by the brand as “the creative laboratory of Tod’s born to realise innovative and unconventional projects in collaboration with designers and artists from the world of luxury and creativity.”
The initiative was launched last fall, with a collection designed with Alessandro Dell’Acqua, and Elbaz’s contribution to the initiative is set to go on sale at some point this spring.
Details of the collection have been kept under wraps, but a statement posted to the Tod’s Instagram account read: “Tod’s is pleased to announce an exclusive collaboration with Alber Elbaz, one of the most talented designers of our time, interpreting the world of Tod’s with his unmistakable creative genius.”
Elbaz helmed the Parisian house of Lanvin for 14 years, before leaving the company in October 2015 due to reported tensions with its owners. Since his departure, he has worked sporadically on collaborations with French perfumer Frédéric Malle, LeSportsac and Converse.
Elbaz is the latest big fashion industry name to be snapped up by Tod’s: last month the label recruited Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, Chinese actress Maggie Jiang, South Korean actress Jung Eun-Chae, and Japanese model Nana Eikura to promote its iconic D-Styling bag in a short film. – Relaxnews
