KUCHING: Members of the component parties in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) need to stay informed about political changes happening at both the state and national levels.
Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said that this is crucial to ensure their relevance and ability to contribute to the party and the state’s well-being, considering the significant changes in the political landscape, not only in Malaysia but worldwide.
However, he acknowledged that some members have grown complacent in their current positions.
“We must recognise that some of us have become complacent in our government positions. Furthermore, there are individuals who engage in backstabbing and internal conflicts to secure positions in government agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs), and similar entities,” said Tiong in a statement shared on his Facebook page yesterday (June 12).
Tiong said that such actions will ultimately harm oneself. Additionally, he stated that this behaviour allows the public to evaluate and assess their leaders.
“In fact, it not only reflects poorly on the individual leader but also on the party itself. If these issues are not addressed, we will witness the consequences in the upcoming elections, as voters decide whether these candidates should be retained,” he added.
