KUCHING: With the conditional movement control order (CMCO) lifted, all museums under the administration of Sarawak Museum Department within Kuching district are now reopened.
The museum department said on Monday (Nov 30) that the reopening started on Nov 28 but must comply with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) in view of the ongoing pandemic.
The total number of persons allowed at one time in the Textile Museum and Islamic Heritage Museum is fixed at 10, while for the Chinese Museum and Natural History Museum, four persons are allowed.
The operating hours for these museums are from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, and 10.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. They are closed on the first day of the public holidays.
The total number of persons allowed in Sri Aman Heritage Museum at one time is eight persons while for Baram Heritage Museum, five persons are allowed.
Operating hours for these museums are from 9am to 4pm on Monday to Friday, and 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The above-mentioned museums will not be open on Monday and the first day of public holidays.
Miri Petroleum Museum, Niah Archaeological Museum and Baram Regional Museum are temporarily closed for maintenance.
The museum department also urged visitors to wear face masks at all times to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Among the other SOPs that must be adhered to include using hand sanitisers, temperature checks, scanning the provided QR code before entry, and practising social distancing.
Only visitors between 13 and 60-year-old are allowed to enter. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by their guardians.
