KUCHING: Once every five years, Malaysians will head back to their respective hometown to cast their votes for the general election.
For the 15th general election (GE15), some voters – particularly the first timers – are very excited to cast their ballots. On the other hand, long-time voters see it is as the responsibility for each and every eligible Malaysian.
Ahead of the polling day tomorrow, New Sarawak Tribune spoke to some of the people who will voting.
AZIZAH ZAREI, student
“As a first-time voter, I am definitely excited. I was glued in front of my computer during the announcement, and I immediately bought my flight tickets home. I’ll be heading to the polling centre in the morning, probably between 9 am and 11 am. And yes, I have decided whom to vote for.”
JAVERNSON SERIT, actor
“I am very excited to vote because this is only once every five years. So I’m still going out to vote regardless of the weather or traffic jam. I will be going to the polling centre in the afternoon and hopefully there will be fewer people around that time. And yes, I’ve decided whom to vote which is basically someone that I think worthy of a leader and who are concerned about the people.”
AINAA WAHIDAH, customer service officer
“Yes I am, as I’m excited to see a new Malaysia. I’ll be heading to the polling centre around 8 am. And of course I have decided whom to vote for, as hopefully, they can make a huge change for us.”
AHMAD KAMAL BASYAH SALLEHUDDIN, lecturer
“It is a responsibility to each and every eligible citizen, so I don’t see it as an excitement. Perhaps because I am voting for the fifth time since I started exercising my right. I will go and vote. Yes, I have decided and I hope my choice of candidate wins.”
UMAR AKMAL, student
“I am super excited because voting is the only power that the people have to determine the future. I’ll be heading to the polling centre around 2 pm and, yes, I have decided whom to vote for.”
NOOR SYAFAREENA OSSEN, civil servant
“I am so excited to vote and I will go early to the polling centre at 8.30 am and I will vote for party that will protect the rights of Sarawak and its people.”
FATIN NURHAFIEKA HAMDAN, graphic designer
“I’m excited to fulfil our responsibility in this election and I will go to the polling centre early. I will vote for the party that will and fight for our rights in parliament.”
