KUCHING: Media organisations must be open and willing to listen to ideas especially from young journalists.
Sarawak Media Group chief executive officer, Suhaimi Sulaiman, said it is important that they do not impede staff creativity in order to allow them to shine in their career.
“The leaders at the organisation must help their staff grow in a good working ecosystem and reward them accordingly.
“When the ecosystem is right, the staff will love their work and will not let the company down.
“Sometimes, it is not about the staff not performing but because of the environment,” he said.
Suhaimi said this in his talk on Pushing Boundaries and Staying Relevant in the Changing Media Industry during the workshop organised by New Sarawak Tribune and Suara Sarawak here on Wednesday.
At the same time, he also said journalists should not be demotivated when their ideas on news reporting are rejected.
“You must come back with more ideas so that people will agree with your views. You must be prepared to accept rejection and come up with other solutions,” he added.
