BINTULU: The Education Department should allow urban schools in Bintulu to implement learning through the Home-Based Teaching and Learning Method (PdPR).

Minister in charge of Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said this was essential following the drastic increase in positive cases involving schools in urban areas in Bintulu.

Dr Rundi added that schools in the rural areas should however be allowed to continue with face-to-face learning as no positive Covid-19 cases were reported and they did not have internet access.

Based on the report from the Bintulu Divisional Health Office, 17 primary and secondary schools in the Bintulu division including Sebauh and Tatau had recorded positive Covid-19 cases.

“I would like to remind the public to fully cooperate and always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) “, said Dr Rundi who is also the Minister of Utilities and Kemena assemblyman.
