BUNTAL: A total of 346 fishermen from the Persatuan Nelayan Kawasan (PNK) Buntal received allowances from the state Malaysia Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM).
The allowances were distributed by Deputy Director of state LKIM, Nik Rashid Nik Jusoh during a presentation ceremony at Dewan Sri Buntal, Kampung Buntal here on Thursday.
“I hope all members use the facilities given by the government and support all programmes and activities.
“Through the association (PNK Buntal), they can increase their income and when it is increased it will give benefits to all members,” he said to reporters after the ceremony.
All the recipients come from five areas; Buntal (71), Santubong (19), Salak (123), Pasir Pandak (43) and Bako (90). Out of the 346 recipients, 304 received allowances of RM300 each and 42 received RM200 each.
Overall, the total number of allowances given out that day was RM99,600. In addition to the allowance presentation, 13 recipients also received donations in the form of equipment to assist them.
