A TOTAL of RM14.4 billion allocated under the Alternative Funding initiative has been expended, with 921 out of 1,476 projects successfully completed, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He said 555 projects are currently at various stages of implementation.
“Among the ongoing major projects are the construction of the Coastal Road and Second Trunk Road, stressed areas under the Sarawak Water Supply Grid, the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS), and the development of educational facilities such as CENTEXS and Sarawak International Schools,” he said in his ministerial winding up speech here on Wednesday.
On Minor Rural Projects (MRPs), Uggah highlighted the success of the Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak, which has benefitted 55,009 families with an expenditure of RM293.56 million to date.
Regarding the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), RM3.59 billion has been spent from an allocated RM4.86 billion.
Under the 12th Malaysia Plan, 10,600 projects have been approved with a total allocation of RM1.64 billion, of which RM1.43 billion has already been utilised.
The completed projects include 419 places of worship, 4,051 infrastructure projects, 349 school repairs, and 199 water and electricity supply projects.
As the 12th Malaysia Plan enters its final year, Uggah urged all controlling officers and implementing agencies to accelerate their efforts.
“We must ensure that all projects under our purview are implemented expeditiously and completed as scheduled. We must drive growth, not with words, but with action. This must be the commitment that we all need to fulfil for the rakyat,” he said.
