KUCHING: A total of 35 senior citizens from Rumah Seri Kenangan and 45 students from Madrasah Darul Uloom Ikhwanul Islamiayyah Kuching were invited for a sumptuous Ramadan buffet on Wednesday night at Grand Dormani Rajah Court Hotel in Kuching.

The dinner was held by the hotel’s management team as part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during the fasting month. It saw Minister of Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah as the guest-of-honour. At the dinner, Fatimah presented ‘Duit Raya’ to the residents of the old folks’ home and also gave donations to religious school students.

Earlier in her speech, Fatimah applauded the hotel for their noble efforts in organising the charitable event by giving back to the community. The hotel has set a good example; therefore I hope other government and non-government organisations (NGOs), corporates and agencies will also take the initiative to get closer to the community, especially senior citizens and the needy, she stressed. Fatimah said that it is always important to know what are the needs and wants of the less fortunate, so that they would not feel left out.

Meanwhile, the minister also officiated at the hotel’s ‘Selara Dormani Ramadan Buffet 2018’. The event also saw a Teacher’s Day celebration for 13 teachers from SK Agama Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan being held. The teachers were invited for a Glutinous Rice Cake Cutting Ceremony.

Also present were Dormani Group of Hotels Chief Executive Officer Haji Ibrahim Nordin, Madrasah Darul Uloom Ikhwanul Islamiayyah Kuching, teacher Muhammad Izzuddin, Principal of Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching Dariel Thiong as well as the hotel’s clients and guests. Today (18th May), the hotel will also be inviting children from Rumah Peryatim Laila Taib and Kumpulan Syarikat Persela for a breakingof fast dinner.

On the hotel’s ‘Selara Dormani Ramadan Buffet 2018’, it is priced for RM68 each for adults and RM48 each for children and senior citizens. There will also be early bird discount for those who book early and price is RM58 each for adults.
