CHIEF EXECUTIVE of Amazon Jeff Bezos posts a blog saying the parent company of tabloid The National Enquirer tried to blackmail him with the threat of publishing “intimate photos”, Ryan Brooks reports.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos went public Thursday (February 7) to say the parent company of the National Enquirer tried to blackmailed him with the threat of publishing quote “intimate photos”.
In a blog post, Bezos made public emails from American Media Inc spelling out in detail what the photos were showing.
Such as “his semi-erect manhood is penetrating the zipper of said garment”.
He accuses AMI of threatening to go to press with the pictures unless Bezos said in public that the tabloid’s reporting on him was not politically motivated.
And to stop investigating how the photos and text messages with his mistress were leaked to them.
Bezos said he was sharing the letter to show AMI’s “extortionate proposal” and said that “if in my position I can’t stand up to this kind of extortion, how many people can?”
The blog post is the latest twist in a weeks-long saga that has brought the personal life of Bezos, the richest person in the world, into the spotlight.
Bezos and his wife announced last month that they were divorcing after 25 years of marriage.
That same day, the National Enquirer touted that it would publish alleged intimate text messages between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, whom he was said to be dating.
Bezos says while he doesn’t want his personal photos published, he prefers to stand up and “roll this log over, and see what crawls out.” – Reuters
