SEBUYAU: Vandalism is turning out to be the biggest challenge in the effort to provide telecommunication and electrical facilities in the state.

“Where we use a lot of fibre optics, we lose some materials because either people steal it or cut the cable itself,” lamented Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

“Our biggest obstacle is in educating and letting people know that facilities like these cannot be disturbed so that we can use them without any sort of interruption,” he said.

He was speaking after attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2022 programme at Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau on Monday (May 16).

According to him several water supply projects are currently under various phases of development.

He said 16.4 percent of targeted areas would be reached to facilitate residents with clean and treated water.

“If we look at the grid that was implemented in the southern area, we see that in Samarahan and Sebuyau, the grid is in the final stage,” he said.
