KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) manifesto for the Jepak state by-election is in line with the Sarawak government’s dedication to bring about a holistic development of the region.
In doing so it emphasises the importance of ensuring the residents of the Jepak constituency do not lag behind in terms of development and socio-economics.
Political analyst Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman said for now what GPS should focus on is the academic excellence and education of children in the Jepak area.
“Excellence in education needs attention and should align with the goal of improving the living standards of the local population.
“What can be done is to strengthen efforts and initiatives towards providing the best education,” he said.
He added that academic empowerment would also enable all the well-planned initiatives for the Jepak area to be effectively implemented.
“Therefore, it is essential that young people, especially in education issues, receive special attention because they are the driving force that will elevate Jepak’s development plans to a higher level,” he added.
GPS unveiled its manifesto for the Jepak by-election yesterday (Oct 29), comprising 14 commitments to ensure the continuity of infrastructure development and socio-economic progress in Jepak.
These include providing affordable housing, more resettlement and village expansion schemes, as well as renovation and assistance in the construction of longhouses.
