By Maya Green
We live in the city
But my, our manners
Are not much better
No, not any better
No better than those
Who live in the country
Whom we tend to consider
As less refined, than ‘em city folks
We say, we will pledge, repent
We want to be good, do good
But at the end of the day
We simply just do not mean it
We tend, and always
Do complicate our own lives
Because we don’t like something
The obvious — which is the simple truth
