Angler found safe after kayak capsizes

Seven anglers were reported safe ashore after one of their friends had gone missing yesterday morning. The victim’s kayak boat had overturned due to bad weather at sea, however, he has been found safe by MMEA Miri in Pantai Lutong on the same day.

MIRI: An angler who was cast adrift by bad weather off Pantai Lutong was found safe several hours later this morning.

The man who is in his 30s was found drifting in the sea by a search and rescue team from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) at about 11.45am.

It was reported that the victim and seven other anglers had gone out fishing on their kayak boats at Pantai Lutong as early as 6am.

However, bad weather caused the victim’s kayak to overturn and was swept away by strong currents.

The other seven anglers managed to return safely ashore by about 11am.
