SEMATAN: The RM 3.8 million Anjung Usahawan Telok Melano project is expected to be completed by January next year.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project was supposed to be completed within 18 months after it was awarded to the contractors in January this year.
“The contractors are confident of completing the project within a year if there is no disruption.
“The site clearance work has already been done so we expect it to be completed next January,” he said during his work visit here today (March 3).
Awang Tengah added that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had agreed to provide funding for the project.
“This area has the potential to be developed further as an ecotourism destination with the existence of the soon-to-be built Anjung Usahawan. Entrepreneurs will be able to conduct their businesses as well as promote local products to help them generate incomes.
“Telok Melano is now accessible with the Pan Borneo Highway unlike last time. Thus, tourists will be able to easily come here and enjoy the beautiful scenery, cafes, business space and many more,” said the deputy chief minister.
The Anjung Usahawan is initiated by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (Mintred) to encourage more local entrepreneurs to venture in businesses.
The 3.2-acre project include food and beverages lock-up stalls (eight), wet market area (five), local product stalls (four),a mini post-office, a cybercafé, parking bays, public toilets and an open dining area that can accommodate about 100 people.
