KUCHING: Among the festivities not to be missed out here, especially food enthusiast is the 2019 Kuching Food Festival from July 26 to Aug 18 to be held at the MBKS Community Hall, Jalan Padungan.
This is not your usual festival. Although there are several other activities available such as music and dance performances, garden show, sports and more, it truly is a food and drink fiesta.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk James Chan said the festival is expecting to attract one million visitors for this year.
“From feedback of the previous years, we found that the festival not only attracts the locals but also the international crowds.
“We get domestic visitors from Penang and foreigners from Australia and Singapore who really enjoyed the festival,” he added.
Chan revealed that the council would be introducing eSports activities to be held from Aug 16-18 at MBKS Lobby.
“Currently, we have around 281 vendors and are looking for more. The Trade Fair will include 48 outdoor booths and 68 indoor booths.
“The festival will also reduce the usage of styrofoams and single-use plastics.
“As the festival prides itself as being among the most hygienic food festival around, every participating vendor will be requested to undergo a health-screening as a precaution,” he said.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will grace the opening ceremony.
The festival welcomes all to attend and includes a cashless payment service such as SarawakPay.
