MIRI: Minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin handed over five units of Philips respirators to Miri Hospital today.
Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong was present to receive the respirators on behalf of the hospital.
The respirators, which are portable ideal oxygen concentrators used in providing oxygen therapy, were purchased by a private company to be donated to the hospital.
The company which preferred to remain anonymous contacted Lee to help them hand the respirators over to the hospital.
Lee who is also Transport Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the donor for the respirators which are very timely and useful for the hospital in the present Covid-19 pandemic situation in Miri.
“In view of the recent increase in the number of positive cases, Miri Hospital will need more equipment to treat Covid-19 positive patients.
“I hope that more generous donors will come forward to contribute medical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) and so on to the hospital,” he said.
Last year, a few corporate companies and voluntary organisations also donated medical equipment and PPEs to Miri Hospital including Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machines (two units), Biosafety Cabinets (two units) and ventilators.
