TAIPING: The Perak government is awaiting report from the State Health Department and management of the Taiping Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) on the latest food poisoning case at the school.
State Education, Technology, Science and Environment Committee chairman Prof Dr Abdul Aziz Bari said he was informed that three Taiping MRSM students were sent to Taiping Hospital because of food poisoning.
Two of them were allowed to return to school an hour later, while the third is still placed under observation at the hospital, he said after visiting the students.
He said the three students were among more than 20 others at the schools, aged 16 and 17, who complained of having symptoms of food poisoning after taking their breakfast at the school’s dining hall today and were sent to a health clinic nearby.
“We have yet to be informed on the cause of the food poisoning and whether it involves the same canteen operator,” he added.
About three weeks ago, 31 students at the school were down with food poisoning, also after eating food at the school’s dining hall,
Abdul Aziz said all schools should comply with the standard of hygiene and cleanliness stipulated by the local authorities in their food preparation. – Bernama
