THE second Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School (YSISS) located at Semenggok, Jalan Kuching-Serian, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn hoped that it could be completed fast so that it could cater to more students.
“As for the YSISS at Petra Jaya, it is receiving an encouraging response this year with about 400 primary six pupils sitting for the assessment test.
“Following this, another 100 students will be enrolled for Year 7 (Form 1) under the 2023/2024 session,” he tolda press conference after delivering his ministerial winding-up speech today.
Roland said so far 67 students have enrolled for this year’s session, while the remaining will be registered after Gawai.
The first YSISS is located at Petra Jaya and is now in its second year of operation.
On another note, he said the Sarawak English language Education Symposium (SELES) 2023 organised by his ministry will be held this year.
“Tentatively, the symposium is held from June 30 to Aug 2 in Sibu,” he said.
He added an expected 250 participants, including English educators from the Sarawak State Education Department, District Education Offices (PPDs), and schools from around the central region covering Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Sarikei, Saratok, and Song will be enrolled.
“SELES, among others, is a platform where English language teachers can share their creative and innovative practices in the classroom,” he said.
