KUCHING: Sarawak recorded another seven positive Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total number of cases to 348 since the first positive case was reported on March 13.
All these seven cases are being treated at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) here.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said as at yesterday, a total of 155 new cases of person under investigation (PUI) was recorded, bringing the total to 2,680 PUI cases.
Of these cases, 2,155 were negative and 177 PUI cases were still awaiting laboratory results.
On the PUI cases, 116 were recorded in Kuching, 22 in Serian, seven in Samarahan, three in Bau, three in Miri, two in Sri Aman and two in Bintulu.
“Public compliance of the movement control order (MCO) has improved to 97 per cent,” said Abdul Karim, during the Covid-19 daily update press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.
On Sarawakians returning from overseas, Malaya, Sabah and Labuan who are classified as person under surveillance (PUS), Abdul Karim said as at yesterday, there were 310 PUS, bringing the total to 1,063.
In Kuching, there are 116 PUS placed at Hock Lee Hotel for quarantine, 85 at Rajah Court Dormani Hotel, 78 at Kuching Park and 98 at Pullman.
In Miri, there are 81 PUS placed at Mega Hotel, 45 at Somerset Hotel, 15 at Stay Inn, 40 at Cosy Inn, 145 at Imperial Palace, 25 at Eastwood Resort and eight at Imperial Hotel.
In Limbang, there are 94 PUS placed at Purnama Hotel and 233 at Park City Everly.
On the handling of PUS cases, Abdul Karim said the new standard operating procedure (SOP) would be announced today.
He said looking at the increasing number of PUS, there was a need to have a guideline so that the hotel rooms would be enough to cater for all.
