SARIKEI: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and Roderick Wong Siew Lead from Democratic Action Party (DAP) will face off in a straight fight for the Sarikei parliamentary seat.
Huang, who has held the Repok state seat under Sarikei for two terms, arrived at the nomination centre at 8.32 am accompanied by proposer Lau Hieng Yueh and seconder Lau Hieng Moon.
Shortly, Roderick arrived around 8.45 am, accompanied by Sarikei incumbent and his proposer, Andrew Wong Ling Biu and seconder Yew Tai Hui.
Andrew, who is Roderick’s father, gave way his his son and is not seeking for re-election.
Returning officer Kathreen Laila Eddie Saga announced the names of the candidates after the end of the protest period at 12.15 pm.
