BINTULU: An industrial vaccination centre (PPV) will be set up at Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd to help expedite the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme here.

According to Bintulu Health officer Dr Melvin Chung Hsien Liang, the PPV is specifically for industrial sector workers operating in the Samalaju industrial area.

For a start, he said, the vaccine would target about 6,000 employees of Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd following the initiative shown by the company who wanted to participate in the Bintulu Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

“The programme will be run entirely by the protect health corporation which consists of a panel of doctors of the industry companies involved.

“We (Bintulu Health office) only help monitor in terms of reporting and resolve vaccination-related issues if needed.

“In any case, we are still waiting for the decision from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) Sarawak,” he explained, adding another vaccination centre will be set up at the Dinner World Bintulu.
