KUCHING: A gotong-royong programme, involving 12 villages starting from Kampung Boyang until Kampung Bintawa, is set to commence on July 7.
Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) public relations officer Imelda Kartika said, “The one-day programme will start from 8am with a dengue talk followed with launching ceremony and the gotong-royong session at all areas.
“A fogging session will also be done on the day as one of our measures to combat the breeding of Aedes.”
DBKU, he added, had created a dengue taskforce to observe and raise awareness of the public regarding the disease.
Imelda urged residents to involve themselves in the fight against dengue and to destroy all Aedes breeding places.
“They should throw or discard their trash into black plastic bags that are properly tied so that they can be collected by Trienekens.
Last Saturday, anti-dengue gotong-royong sessions were held in Kampung Bintangor Besar, Kampung Masjid and Kampung Bintangor Kecil.
“The gotong-royong sessions were carried out to clean up the areas. Meanwhile, the abandoned building in Kampung Ajibah Abol, which was identified as a dengue hotspot, has been closed. The squatters have been moved to Anjung Singgah,” Imelda told reporters.
