KUCHING: The ‘Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang’ (APC) was presented to 251 staff from agencies and departments under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) Sarawak Zone yesterday.
The recipients comprised four persons from KKLW, 16 from the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authorities (RISDA), 39 from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and 190 from Community Development Department (KEMAS).
Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and his deputy, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi presented the awards to the recipients at a ceremony held at Hilton Hotel here.
The awards were presented in appreciation of the excellent achievements and commitments of the recipients in improving the quality of public service as well as in carrying out all the programmes of the ministry throughout 2017.
The awards would also be able to increase cooperation and understanding among KKLW, the departments and agencies under it and thus, avoiding working in silo in realising the main objectives of the ministry which is ‘Urbanising Rural Area’.
In his speech, Ismail Sabri revealed that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Sarawak has been given much focus.
He said that more than RM1 billion or 28 per cent out of the RM3.8 billion for the development budget was allocated to Sarawak whereas Sabah received 24 per cent and the remaining would be shared by the 11 states in Peninsular Malaysia.
Ismail Sabri added that the government understood that there were still many areas in the state that needed immediate development.
The Minister of Rural and Regional Development disclosed that a joint committee between the federal and state government would be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as the chairman and would be looking into projects in the state that needed immediate attention and relevant actions.
