KUCHING: The Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition (APGH) 2024 is a vital platform for Sarawak to showcase its green hydrogen potential to a global audience of investors and partners.

With over 100 exhibitors and 500 conference delegates in attendance, the event aims to not only raise awareness about the significance of green hydrogen but also attract substantial investments to Sarawak, fostering job creation and economic growth.

Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Datuk Asmat Kamaludin expressed optimism that APGH 2024 would annually convene leading global experts to discuss the latest advancements in green hydrogen technology, policy development, regulatory frameworks and infrastructure enhancements.

“Our abundant natural resources, renewable energy from our rivers, and political stability make Sarawak an ideal destination for green hydrogen investment.

“It is my hope that through APGH 2024, we will seize opportunities to network with international companies and experts, fostering a spirit of learning from one another.

“Let us make this conference and expo the catalyst for the growth of the hydrogen economy in Sarawak,” he said during the launching of APGH 2024 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Monday.

On the same note, Asmat noted that the event also aims to identify and nurture young entrepreneurial talent, encouraging them to explore opportunities in clean energy, energy transition and green hydrogen.

“By discovering their passion and exploring opportunities in clean energy, the energy transition, and green hydrogen, our young minds will be inspired to drive the future of sustainable energy,” he added.

APGH 2024, organised by Borneo Business Connect Sdn Bhd with support from the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak and Business Events Sarawak, aspires to position Sarawak as a global hub for green hydrogen production and innovation.

Scheduled from June 10 to 12, the event will gather industry leaders, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from around the globe to explore and promote green hydrogen’s potential.

Launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, APGH 2024 marks a significant milestone in Sarawak’s journey toward a sustainable hydrogen economy.

The extensive programme includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions, and a comprehensive exhibition showcasing the latest advancements in green hydrogen technology.

Also at the launch were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang; Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; and Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, among others.
