Bombardier CL-415 preparing for take off to carry out aerial firefighting in Sri Aman

KUCHING: The Air Pollutants Index (API) throughout the state has gone down following the intense firefighting operation against forest and peat fires.

Four monitoring stations remain at unhealthy readings Miri (103), Sri Aman (192), Samarahan (120) and Kuching (108).

Eight monitoring stations recorded moderate readings: Limbang (71), ILP Miri (98), Samalaju (93), Bintulu (72), Mukah (76), Kapit (59), Sibu (86), Sarikei at 95.

And only two hotspots were spotted in Sarawak; both were in Lundu.

Meanwhile, the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bombardier CL-415 has successfully carried out two sorties, dropping 102,000 litres of water in Sri Aman.

The aerial firefighting recorded operational effectiveness of 95 per cent at Sector C of Kampung STC.

The operation will resume at 7am today at a new sector.
