KUCHING: A boarder at SK St Lawrence was surprised by a mangrove snake on his way to the dining hall late Today (Aug 8).

According to Sri Aman Civil Defence officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim, at the time the students were in the dining hall for dinner about 5.46pm.

“At the time of the incident, the three-foot-long Boiga dendrophila or gold-ringed cat snake was on the iron gate of the dining hall.

“The complainant, known as Randy, who was anxious and worried about the safety of the students, immediately contacted the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sri Aman,” she said.

Siti Huzaimah said APM members later caught the venomous snake. She also advised the public to contact the Sri Aman District Operations Control Centre, which operates 24 hours, at 083-320973 in case of emergencies.
