MIRI: An elderly woman was doing her morning routine cleaning the drain of her house, when she spotted a nearly one-metre long venomous cobra, slithering into the drain. “It was a terrified moment for my mother,” said the woman’s 50 year-old son.
Three personnel from the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) were immediately dispatched to the scene, in Prima Villa Permyjaya here, in response to a call on the encounter at 9.03am. According to sources, the snake was spotted slithering from outside, heading into the home’s drain. “My mother just finished putting up the clothing on the clothes’ lines, before she started to clean the drain,” the son said.
“However, she was shocked upon seeing ‘something black’ was moving in the drain; she immediately knew it was a venomous snake.” The woman immediately alerted her son, who later on called up the APM here for help. It took the APM team less than 15 minutes to secure the cobra.
