KUCHING: Sarawak is currently creating an application for the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) for athletes and sports fans.

According to Deputy State Secretary and chief executive officer for the games, Datuk Hii Chang Kee, through the application, users can browse the SUKMA schedule or get current live score updates.

“We are also working with telcos to ensure the live telecasts are more digitalised and that they can boost the signal, especially for the opening ceremony at Stadium Sarawak.

“This one can be something different from others. The app is still in the final stages, but we already have the website, and all details, information, and schedules can be downloaded. We have also posted information on social media apps,” he said.

He said this during the Sarawak Public Communications Unit’s (UKAS) Bual Bicara Juh Randau programme on Saturday (June 29).

Hii added that TVS and RTM will be the main partners for SUKMA’s broadcast this year.

“Before this, there were only three slots for viewers to follow up with SUKMA results in the morning, afternoon, and night.

“We are cooperating with TVS and RTM to use digital technologies to ensure continuous updates for viewers on their websites or mirror the updates on the SUKMA website. Whenever they access the websites, they can see the updates,” he said.

He emphasised that not all venues will have live telecasts.

“We have 51 venues across nine divisions, but we are trying our best to ensure we can live telecast most of the sports events,” he added.
