SAN FRANCISCO: US tech company Apple Inc on Monday kicked off its annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC22) with the introduction of a new chip, laptops and operating systems.
Apple’s new products include M2 chip, MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro and its latest operating systems of iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and watchOS 9, said Xinhua.
At WWDC22, Apple announced its latest chip M2, the successor to Apple’s M1 chip, designed specifically for the Mac. It also unveiled the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, both supercharged by M2 chip.
“M2 delivers a faster CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. And along with higher memory bandwidth and new capabilities like ProRes acceleration,” said Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies Johny Srouji.
Its latest operating system of iOS 16 provides users with a new lock screen experience and new ways to share and communicate.
iPadOS 16 introduced a new multitasking experience with stage manager and full external display support, new ways to collaborate via messages.
The macOS Ventura added new productivity tools and features. With watchOS 9, Apple Watch users will now have more watch faces to choose from.
WWDC is Apple’s biggest software event of the year. This year it will be held in an online format on June 6-10, the company said.
The event will also showcase the latest innovations in operating systems, while giving developers access to Apple engineers and technologies to learn how to create groundbreaking apps and interactive experiences, it noted. – BERNAMA
