KUALA LUMPUR: Application for the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN) or National Hero Service Award for civil servants in security service who served during the Emergency is now open.
Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim in a statement today said police personnel including civil servants who served in the field force in the Federation of Malaya or Malaysia, must have served for the period from July 12, 1948 to Oct 17, 1990.
“For Commonwealth police force who have served in the police service in the Federation of Malaya, it is for the period from July 12, 1948 to Aug 30, 1957, which is known as emergency service era,” he said.
He explained that it refers to the government’s gazette regarding the status of PJPN volume 58 number 10 dated March 3, 2014.
Azmi said applications can be made at the nearest Police Public Affairs/Retired Contingent and District office by attaching a copy of the identity card, Civil Service Department retiree card and Service Record Confirmation Letter from the Records Division of Bukit Aman Management Department.
“The head of the Contingent Management Department, the district police chief and the police chief of the station will assist the applicant in facilitating the verification of supporting documents. For verification of the applicant’s service record, they can contact the Personnel Records Branch at the PDRM Management Department or call 03-2266 8114 / 8115 / 8117, ” he said.
He said the PDRM hopes that the Peninsular Malaysia Police Force Administrative and Public Service Staff Union, the Sabah Police Public Administration Service Staff Union and the Sarawak Police Civilian Staff Union can help their members and eligible applicants to apply.
Azmi said for any further enquiries on PJPN application, the public can contact the Police Pensioners Affairs Division, PDRM Management Department at 03-2266 8387.
The PJPN is awarded to police and PDRM officers including civil servants in security in recognition of heroic services, sacrifices and devotion to the country during their police service in the Federation of Malaya or Malaysia during the Emergency. — BERNAMA
