KUCHING: State Integrity and Ombudsman Unit (Union) under the Chief Minister’s Department will hold Integrity Leadership Pioneer Programme (Program Merintis Kepimpinan Berintegriti) throughout this month.

The last entry date is at 12am on Jan 8 next year.

The programme targets Malaysian youth including children and students residing in the state aged 21 and below, said Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip during a press conference at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

Themed ‘Integrity is Our Culture’ (Integriti Budaya Kita) the programme is divided into four competitions, namely, colouring, story-telling, speech and poetry recital.

The colouring competition is open to those born in the period between 2014 and 2017.

The story-telling category (Juh Bercerita dari Rumah) is open to those born in any of the years from 2008 to 2013.

Entrants to the Malay language poetry recital are those born in any of the years from 2005 to 2007.

The Malay Pidato competition is divided into two age groups – 13 to 17 and 18 to 21.

Talib explained that the main purpose of the programme is to inculcate integrity at an early age through creative work.

Mindful of the Covid-19 pandemic, the programme will be held virtually, that is, the participants just remain at home and made recordings of their entrees for submission to the organisers before or on the deadline of the competitions.

Participants can get the help of family members or friends to do the recording using a mobile phone or any suitable recording device.

Also present with Talib at the press conference were Union director Adana Jed, State Education Department acting director Dr Abang Hut Abang Engkeh, Union chief integrity officer Zulhairy Zaidel, Union Ombudsman section chief Paul Murphy Ningkan, Sarawak Integrity and Standard Compliance deputy chief ASP Azlan Azizuddin Suhaimi, and State Chief Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) Yusuf Bujang.
