KUCHING: Menalun Road (phase 2), Sungai Poi, Kanowit was approved under 11th Malaysia Plan (MP) Rolling Plan 1 costing RM15million.
Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil explained this to Machan Assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong, who wanted to know if any fund is available for the construction of the proposed roads from Nanga Menalun to Ulu Poi; and Ulu Machan Road Phase II.
Allan, also wanted to know on the actual construction of the roads be expected to start.
According to Jerip, the project will be implemented by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage and is now in the design stage.
He said the project is expected to be tendered by the 1st quarter of 2018.
“The proposal for Ulu Machan Road Phase 2 has been submitted to Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) under the Rolling Plan 3 (2018-2019) for consideration.
“If approved in 2018, the works is expected to start in 2019,” he said at the State Legislative Assembly yesterday.
Apart from that, Jerip also explained to Katibas Assemblyman, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan, who wanted to know if the government has plan to build road from Nanga Banjor to Nanga Engkuah onwards to Lanjak Estimau Wildlife Sanctuary Nanga Beloh and from Nanga Musah to Ulu Musah (Sungai Mataalau).
He explained that currently there is no immediate plan to implement these two road projects, namely Nanga Banjor (rural road) to Nanga Engkuah and connecting to Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary, Nanga Beloh and the road from Nanga Musah to Ulu Musah and road from Nanga Musah to Ulu Musah.
“For the maintenance of ‘Jalan Kampung’ Roads and rehabilitated ex-logging roads for which road reserve has been acquired, this shall be taken up by Public Works Department (JKR) under MARRIS funding,” he said.
