KUCHING: A shop owner aged 30 sustained injuries on his back after he was whacked by robbers armed with a parang on Sunday night.
The grocery shop owner at Kota Samarahan said he and a worker were about to close the shop at 11.30pm when a man came in to buy a bottle of mineral water.
As they were almost done with the closing, two men came towards them and demanded for money.
They fought back with one of the robbers using a parang to whack the shop owner. The two robbers then ran to a waiting car before it sped off.
The shop owner, however, said the robbers failed to get anything.
He claimed that he recognised one of the robbers as he had earlier on come to his shop to buy a bottle of mineral water.
The three were not wearing any mask but the two who came to rob had their caps on.
Police are investigating the case.
